Pricing
We do not reprint prices. They change too often for that to be honest, and a number on our page with no date is worse than sending you to the source.
How we rated it
What it is
A note-taking application that stores everything as plain markdown files on your own machine, with links between notes, a plugin ecosystem and optional paid sync.
Who it is for
People who write a lot and want their notes to outlive whatever company made the software.
Where it is strongest
A knowledge base you intend to keep for years. The files are yours, readable in any text editor, with no export step — that is the entire argument and it is a strong one.
Where it falls short
Collaboration is weak; it is a tool for one person. Setting it up well takes real time, and the plugin ecosystem encourages fiddling instead of writing. And sync costs extra or has to be arranged yourself.
Our verdict
Recommended for personal knowledge work, especially if lock-in bothers you. For a team, Notion is the better shape.
