What it is
Development and observability tooling for language-model applications: tracing every call, evaluating output quality, versioning prompts and monitoring production behaviour.
Who it is for
Teams building on LangChain, and anyone needing to debug and evaluate a multi-step model system.
Where it is strongest
Debugging chains. When a system makes six calls and the answer is wrong, the trace is the only way to find which step failed.
Where it falls short
Most natural inside the LangChain ecosystem, which is itself heavier than many projects need. Traces store whatever users typed, so it becomes personal data you now govern. And evaluation requires you to define what good means, which is the hard part.
Our verdict
Recommended for LangChain projects. Outside that ecosystem, Langfuse is lighter and less opinionated.
