Who it is for
Data teams who want pipelines that keep working without anyone maintaining them.
Where it is strongest
Reliability. The connectors are maintained and schema drift is handled, which is precisely the work that makes self-built pipelines expensive over time.
Where it falls short
Expensive, priced on rows changed, which is hard to predict and occasionally shocking. Little control over how data arrives. And for one or two simple sources it is enormously over-engineered.
Our verdict
Recommended when pipeline reliability is worth real money. Airbyte self-hosted is far cheaper if you have someone to maintain it.
