High-volume work where the per-token price dominates. On reasoning and code it is close enough to the leaders that the price difference is hard to ignore.
Where it falls short
Data sent to the hosted API goes to servers in China, which for European companies is a transfer question you have to answer before you use it. It avoids politically sensitive topics. And the open weights need real hardware to run usefully.
